This is the use of anti-wrinkle injections to reduce the width of the jaw line. Injection in the ‘chewing’ muscles of the jaw (called the masseter muscle) to reduce its size. In some ethnicities (particularly oriental ladies), patients have a tendency to develop overly square masculine facial features. Anti-wrinkle injection can reduce the overall size of the masseter muscle, allowing for improved facial proportions. The relative thickness of the masseter can be easily determined by biting down hard and feeling the outer jawline. Unlike regular anti-wrinkle injectinos of the upper face where results are evident in approximately 7 to 10 days following treatment and last about 3 to 4 months, Anti-wrinkle injections to the masseter takes about 6 weeks before you see the difference and will last typically around 6 months.
